Many thanks to Beth Phillips for sharing her craft of designing works with Kudzu with some of our summer school classes. Beth says: I mingle with a vine with a horrible reputation and turn it into something useful and beautiful. In the 12 years that have passed since I’ve made friends with Kudzu, I’ve learned this vine ofdisrepute is undeserved of the disdain it holds in the hearts of most Southerners and is in fact a magnificent source for paper, cloth, food and medicine that has as been used in Japan and other parts of Asia for 1000s of years. My hope is to showcase just a few of the many products that can be made from ‘the vine that ate the South’.
¡Felicidades a nuestros estudiantes! Students from the Capitol achieved impressive results at the Spanish convention held at the University of Montevallo, securing eight victories across various categories including grammar, vocabulary, poetry, and singing. Notably, our school was the only one to bring middle schoolers to the competition, where they successfully held their own against high school students and brought home trophies.
PTC International Picnic featuring tables representing various countries. Students will visit each table to learn about the country and then have their passport stamped. The Art and Artist Show will showcase art work by the students and student photos.
