The Elementary Program
The Capitol School's elementary program combines the latest research in brain development with successful educational practices to engage students in exciting and meaningful learning experiences.
While achievement is measured by grades in a traditional school environment, The Capitol School measures achievement by actual individual progress and mastery.

Rather than reading a chapter in a textbook and filling in blanks, children engage in extensive learning projects. These projects involve higher order thinking skills and mirror real-life problems and situations. Purposeful learning that includes hands-on involvement has proven to be much more effective than the traditional approach.

Children are grouped in multi-age clusters to mirror real-life environments such as home and work. Such grouping has proven to result in enhanced learning, as peers become involved in tutoring one another. Unlike traditional age-based classrooms, clusters allow students to work above grade level.
